Tigoni Tea & Waterfall Hike

Tigoni is 30km or 1 hour drive from Nairobi. The drive there offers a scenic drive though the bustle of Nairobi and into Limuru, the lush greenery sub-county of Kiambu known as the tea-producing and processing area in Kenya.

The hike will be a short 2 hour-8km walk making it ideal for beginners and first time hikers. The walk is mainly through the private tea plantations, made possible by the local farmers. The terrain is easy with a few steep sections and small riverine crossing. You will experience crisp air, cool temperatures and a beautiful scenery of the rolling tea hills. There is a power and a brilliance in the tranquility of the waterfall as its light drizzle splashes on your face and cools you down from the high temperatures of the late morning.

Charges: ksh 3,000/- inclusive of transport, entry fee, guide fee and tips

Ksh 2,000/- self-drive

What to wear
Hiking boots recommended but sneakers with good grip will do
Walking trousers or shorts (no jeans)
T-Shirt
Wide brimmed hat/cap
Warm fleece/jacket for before or after the hike
Rainproof jacket
Sunscreen Lotion

What to carry
Drinking water at least 2 liters (not optional)
Sandwich snack or fruit (banana, apple), energy bar, biscuit, or nuts (as preferable)
Backpack to carry your personal items
Walking pole (optional)

EXTRAS
Change of clothes including shoes for after the hike.
